This post originally started out with the idea of sharing female-hosted podcasts as listened to by Israel’s successful working women. What it turned into is a wonderful non-genre-specific hodgepodge of podcasts that Israel’s successful working women listen to, though not necessarily hosted by a woman.
All the podcasts in this list were recommended by fellow Ima Kadimas. Ima Kadima is a Facebook group and non-profit organization started by two incredible women – Naava Shafner & Cori Widen.
Ima is the Hebrew word for mother, kadima means “let’s go” or “onward” and both the Facebook group and non-profit organization support career-minded working mothers.
Additional insights and ideas for how to structure this post were provided by podcast maven Gal Moss. Thank you, Gal!
As Gal explained to me, podcasts have not yet penetrated the Israeli market in the same way podcasts in the United States have, and while I found that point backed up in a few Hebrew articles, I had trouble putting my finger on any concrete statistics.
A few caveats
- This isn’t scientific survey.
- Not all minority women groups in Israel are represented. This may be because not all minority groups are a part of the Ima Kadima Facebook group and it may be because even if they were, they did not respond because they do not listen to podcasts.
- While there are over 7,000 women in the Ima Kadima Facebook group, only a small number of women responded to the survey.
Why I created this post
So if my sample size is small, is not representative of all successful working women, and it wasn’t conducted scientifically so that I could actually learn something about the statistics – why did I create it?
As I mentioned earlier, podcasts have penetrated Israeli society the same way they have in America. By raising awareness to the podcast medium, I hope to help more women gain access to it so that they too can learn more, be inspired more and entertained more.
By sharing podcasts that Israel’s successful working women listen too, even if it’s not comprehensive, I hope to help amazing podcasts gain even more of an audience. Not every podcast suits every individual, providing a list of podcasts that Israel’s working women have recommended will give other working women who have not yet listened to podcasts a place to start while encourage other seasoned podcast listeners to try new ones.
This post need not be consumed in one sitting. You can save it in Facebook or to Pocket and keep coming back to it whenever you feel you need a new podcast to start listening to. As I learned very quickly, you can never have enough good podcasts to listen to.
So no finally, the point in this post you’ve all been waiting for. The list of podcasts recommended by some of Israel’s successful working women. To make it easier, I’ve organized the podcasts according to their genres, in alphabetical order. Within genres podcasts are arranged with the podcasts getting the most votes, coming first.
