My every day has a bit of every thing.

I’m sure it’s because I’m a woman.

I can be a mother, a writer, a teacher, a mediator, a cleaner, a driver, a consumer, an entrepreneur, a blogger and a (web)site builder all in one day.

Sometimes I feel like we women shot ourselves in the backside with this feminism thing, but mostly I feel like we’re damn lucky to be living in this day and age.

We can have it all. Maybe not all at the same time, but we can have it all. Of course we’ll drive ourselves crazy to meet our own standards of excellence (which are beyond any objective standard) but that’s a different issue.

I may be wrong on this one, but I think that for the most part, men don’t struggle in the daily art of living as much as we do. Or if they do, it’s not the same struggle.

Women are working on multiple canvases at the same time. And we expect each piece to be breathtaking; MoMA material. We’ve got to be great at everything. At least in our own minds.

Some days it doesn’t feel like we’re capable. Some days we just want to crawl under our beds and forget there’s a world.  But we can’t. Because there’s too much riding on us.

It’s tough. You know it is and I’m not going to tell you anything about just how tough it is. If you’re a woman. Do what you have to. Keep at it. Plowing away. Our life is a process and if there’s one thing you as a woman can come away with it’s to appreciate that you excelled at The Everything Job.
